The best straw bags for summer
Come summer, I always rotate my bags. I end up putting many of my leather handbags at the back of the closet and placing my lighter summer bags at the front.
Sure, I have a few lighter leather bags that are perfect for summer. But there's something even more exciting about a straw bag : they instantly give your look a summer vibe. And honestly, they make you feel vacation-ready. I find myself reaching for these bags whenever I'm traveling to a warm-weather destination.
Straw bags are perfect for your sunny vacation ☀️
Over the past few years, I've been collecting straw, woven, and rattan bags. They've held up surprisingly well to everyday wear and tear, even travel. My most recent straw bag is this large straw tote with wicker handles. It's perfect for carrying my beach towel, sunscreen, and my latest book. But it's also perfect for a little picnic in the park. Because yes, those picnics are becoming more and more common these days!
There are also two other straw or wicker bags that I've used a lot. That first crossbody bag has survived so many uses over the years. And my round rattan bag is seriously the best investment I've ever made. It's the perfect size for a night out with the essentials. A red lipstick and your phone, of course. It's a bag I always take with me on my getaways because it's easy to pack and goes with everything!

I love having a good summer tote. They're so versatile, as I can carry them for errands, to work in my workspace with my laptop, or even to the pool. I always aim for my totes to be around this size, knowing I'll get the most out of them. It's big enough for my laptop, but also light and summery enough to pair with a sundress for an al fresco dinner.
Straw clutches and evening bags
For tropical vacations or nights out with the girls, a straw evening clutch is an easy way to transform a little black dress into a summer little black dress. It's amazing how quickly an outfit becomes more vacation-ready when you swap out your leather clutch for a straw clutch. If there's one bag to add to your summer wardrobe that you'll keep for years to come, it's the straw clutch!
Straw crossbody bags
Just before going on vacation a few years ago, I looked for a straw crossbody bag. I felt like it would be so practical to carry to dinner. And I was right. It became my go-to bag for travel, into which I slipped my iPhone, a small travel wallet (I can't recommend a small wallet for travel enough), and lipstick. They come in several sizes and shapes, and I chose the smallest. Any of these bags will probably be able to hold a bit more, like sunglasses and other compact items.
